Product Description
The latest generation of AMD Ryzen processor uses a newer and more advanced core technology known as Zen 3 and offers a sizeable step forward in performance when compared with the Ryzen 3000 series models. This new core improves efficiency a great deal which means more can be done with the same amount of electrical power but also the processor can achieve far more at a given clock speed. This type of efficiency is known as IPC or instructions per clock. Previous generations of AMD processors were on par with Intel in IPC performance but with the move to the new Zen3 generation cores, AMD have increased IPC by 20% and now lead the market in IPC.
These new Zen3 generation processors are designed to fit into only the latest AM4 socket motherboards but there are updates available to make the older B450 boards support them. We recommend using a board with a B550 or X570 chipset. The latter X570 models will give the best performance and features.
